Podcasting and the Maker Economy Coming Up on Fit To Speak: From The Archives...and about Liz Cheney
This past Friday, we released the fourth edition of Fit To Speak: From The Archives, which revisited the final part of our conversation about cancel culture with Journalist, Media Entrepreneur and Cultural Creative Marcus K. Dowling, Conservative Commentator Taylor Maupin, and Common Sense Entertainment Creative Director Raheem Dawodu Jr., along with extended commentary from host Eugene Obah about who in the daytime talk show genre would benefit from the departure of Ellen DeGeneres.
This Friday, August 26, we will revisit the first part of our conversation on podcasting and content creation during the novel coronavirus pandemic with Brittany Johnson and Marcus K. Dowling. We also feature Kristan Vermeulen, who hosts the Makers of the USA podcast, and brings a unique focus to the artisans and business owners that make up the maker economy. Another episode, which is not part of our “Archives” series, but one that is worth revisiting in light of Liz Cheney’s primary defeat, is the episode we did in May of last year on the start of the modern-day GOP’s cancellation of Cheney, in which we also discussed the trope of the “Good Republican” that many Democrats have—and continue—to use to put Cheney on a pedestal, even with views that align with former and twice-impeached U.S. President Donald Trump. As Eugene Obah explains:
“While I absolutely commend Liz Cheney for being one of the few Republicans to stand up to Trump and his merry band of acolytes insofar as his election lies—which, by the way, we’ll revisit in a future edition of Fit To Speak: From The Archives—that principled stance has to be viewed in context of her policy positions, and when you really do a thorough examination, it should disabuse anyone of the notion that Cheney, who may very well set her sights on a 2024 presidential bid as a “moderate”, is as much of the “hero” that she’s being portrayed as.”
