IS THE HOST GOING VEGAN? AND TRYING MOCKTAILS?! FIND OUT AS DC VEGAN AND BINGE BAR ARE THE NEXT FEATURED RESTAURANTS ON “DAMN THAT’S GOOD”
In a first for the show, host Eugene Obah visits a vegan restaurant and the city's first dry bar
Common Sense Entertainment’s culinary adventure series Damn That’s Good returned for its second season last week with back-to-back episodes. The show now settles in its regular weekly Tuesday slot (October 8) on the Common Sense Entertainment YouTube channel (YouTube.com/TheCSEChannel) with host Eugene Obah’s visit to DC Vegan in Dupont Circle, and to Binge Bar in the “island” of H St NE.
“We are delighted with the public’s support of the series and the support of the restaurants,” said Obah. “Fall just got hotter, and we are truly warming up with this season of shows.”
Obah added the following statement on the upcoming edition of the show:
“We knew going into this that some of the restaurants we’d feature on the show would be so out of left field. Both DC Vegan and Binge Bar were—in a good way—no exception.
One of the goals this season was to fill in some of the gaps from the first season with regard to some of the cuisines featured. We especially wanted to make a point to feature vegan cuisine as much of the public enjoy it. Vegetarian/vegan food—let alone a restaurant—is not something that I particularly go for. But I did—and would—for this.
We came across DC Vegan via happenstance, and once you see the show, even the most hardcore of carnivores will want to at least pay DC Vegan a visit. It truly was one of the best restaurants we’ve ever shot.
Binge Bar was an interesting one that we came across in the planning stages—it occupies a very unique space among DC’s restaurant culture as the first non-alcoholic bar. Again, would it be something *I* would typically go for? Not necessarily. But again, I did—and would—for this. And there is, especially for the owner and a good chunk of the public, a need for a space like what is offered. And couple that with the owner’s story as to why she created in the first place, it makes for a compelling one, which I hope we’ll someday do more to extend the segment.
Both owners were the nicest I’ve met on this season’s tour. Sometimes, you’ve got to lean into the unknown. I think this episode is the embodiment of that.”
