BONUS! Plus...Student Journalism in the COVID era, and College a "Hard Scam?" Coming Up This Friday
As mentioned in the September 2nd edition of Fit To Speak: From The Archives, we have on our YouTube channel a bonus segment featuring Makers of the USA host Kristan Vermeulen discussing Black Owned Maine’s Rose Barboza’s thoughts on launching a business in Maine vs. Maryland, along with how Maryland can be effective in serving the community of small businesses. Click here to watch the bonus segment.
Labor Day marked the (unofficial) end of summer, and the weather—at least in the DC Metropolitan Area—is cooling down a bit, but this week, we are still going to bring the heat, featuring host Eugene Obah’s commentary on U.S. President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness. Additionally, we revisit our conversation with journalist Clara Longo de Freitas, who reported in The Diamondback on the handling of the novel coronavirus pandemic at the University of Maryland, and shares her thoughts on the role of the student journalist. Alpha Efficiency CEO Brian Dordevic also joins the show to explain his views about college, how he’d reform it, and what the new workforce could look like.
Eugene Obah stated the following:
“This Friday’s edition, which was one of our most popular episodes when we originally aired it on Vimeo, could not come at a better time with school starting, the President’s student loan forgiveness announcement, and the subject matter we discussed. It again goes to show that the topics discussed remain relevant today, and I look forward to the public seeing the show again, along with my fresh commentary, which will leave very little doubt as to where I stand on probably one of the most significant policy decisions made of any President to date.”
