Greetings.
Today, we embark on an expansion of what we have started two years ago in creating CSE Media, the news division of the award-winning Common Sense Entertainment multimedia production company. This Substack newsletter will serve to complement editions of Fit To Speak and Fit To Speak: From The Archives, the latter of which launches Friday July 29 on YouTube.com/TheCSEChannel. We will achieve this through articles and commentary that extend these conversations, some of which will be exclusively on the paid tiers, and we will use this Substack as a “rapid response” to news events that occur between airings of our programs.
We encourage you to become a paid subscriber to the newsletter so that you can get these updates, including the bonus material, directly to your inbox, and also so you can directly support independent content creators. Your support enhances—and adds to—what you see on YouTube, what you see on this page, and what you don’t see (e.g. equipment, Dropbox storage, etc.). Additionally, paid subscribers will be able to take part in an exclusive monthly Zoom forum that will be hosted by Fit To Speak and Fit To Speak: From The Archives host Eugene Obah, and access the archive of this Substack. If you select the highest tier as a Founding Member, not only will you get to add dinner with Eugene and the team (within DC, MD or Northern VA) to the overall subscription perks, you will also have Executive Producer credit on all future Common Sense Entertainment and CSE Media projects.
On June 30, we released the June edition of Fit To Speak, which serves as our summer finale until November 23, when the show resumes new editions. Unfortunately, given the events in Illinois on Independence Day in the United States, the June edition, in which Common Sense Entertainment Creative Director Raheem Dawodu Jr. was our guest, proved all too prescient. Please watch the show and share this important conversation, as it is clear that, even with the bipartisan gun control legislation that U.S. President Joe Biden signed into law, it is far from over.
Our content is fully independent. No corporations, foreign governments, politicians or anyone else outside of Common Sense Entertainment tell us what to say or what not to say. The only partisanship we have when it comes to delivering the news and critical issues that people care about is the truth. If you want to have lies masquerading as news, head over to FOX where watching them makes you less informed than if you were to watch no news.
We believe that the tenets of journalism, combined with common sense, is the way that journalism must be practiced. They have been practiced on Fit To Speak, which has been fast growing—in fact, our subscriber base on YouTube has increased by 33% since January—and we will do so right here on Substack. So do join us.
We will not be silenced.
