All New Fit To Speak: From The Archives Set For August 5
This past Friday, we launched a new weekly program: Fit To Speak: From The Archives. Click here to watch the series premiere. In addition to revisiting our conversation on how we adapt to the “new normal” of the novel coronavirus pandemic, we updated viewers on stories that we’ve covered on the regular Fit To Speak—Byron Allen buying Black News Channel out of bankruptcy, and the demise of One America News on Verizon. As host Eugene Obah explains:
“Byron Allen is one of the most influential media moguls in our business—somebody of his caliber buying Black News Channel is a huge deal, and it’s a development our team and I will continue to cover on the program. I should also remind the public that while most of the national media were focused on the demise of RT America and CNN+, we at CSE Media were one of the very few outlets that covered BNC’s earlier demise and the fact that over 230 Black journalists lost their jobs. The exclusive interview I conducted with former BNC Associate Producer Kenny D. Williams is, as mentioned in the debut show, one worth watching for those interested in the context of the immediate aftermath of the initial shutdown.”
We continue to revisit our past shows from our first season this Friday August 5 in which Eugene, along with Journalist, Media Entrepreneur and Cultural Creative Marcus K. Dowling, Conservative Commentator Taylor Maupin, and Common Sense Entertainment Creative Director Raheem Dawodu Jr. discuss cancel culture. Eugene will additionally provide a remembrance of Unsuck DC Metro, who died last month of kidney cancer, calls out the inappropriate and outrageous coverage from one local news outlet in particular, and also reflects on the mixed legacy that RT America—which shut down earlier this year—leaves in the context of the overall media landscape. As Eugene further explains:
“I made a point in the run-up to this series that the conversations we had in 2020 remain relevant today, and this Friday’s edition will probably be the best example for the entire series. I look forward to providing our viewers the bigger picture about the role that Unsuck DC Metro and RT America played in the media ecosystem—there have been a lot of opinions on ‘em, now, I’ll have my say, and trust me, it will be a *clinic*. Do not miss this one.”
